ABOUT THE JOB:
Essential Responsibilities:
The role of the Assistant Project Manager is to support the group’s Project Managers and their projects. This role is fast-paced as these projects typically require a quick turnaround. This position is responsible for assisting with scheduling, planning, and project management on a variety of HVAC and plumbing systems for the group’s projects. Coordinating with field employees to ensure projects are executed timely and safely. Responsible for maintaining a customer first attitude. Travel to local jobsites is required. This position is an entry point towards a Project Management career.
The Assistant Project Manager performs the following:

Always demonstrate principles of Alliant safety program to ensure project safety is managed effectively, proactively and consistently

Work with Project Managers to research, prepare, and present proposals to new and existing customers that will generate profitable results

Assist with sales activity

Assist Project Manager on all phases of a project

Form in-depth partnerships with our customers and anticipate their needs

Develop positive rapport with suppliers and field crews
-
Provide timely and constructive communication with staff and customers regarding project status and concern throughout all phases

Provide support to the construction staff under supervision of PM
-
Review design and bid documents, helps evaluate bids

Permit prep and submission

Assist with preparation of submittals and closeout documents

Prepare equipment requisitions with the purchasing department

Review contracts, design drawings, specs, estimates and write change orders

Monitors costs and project progress
-
Assist with schedule and tracking of job progress

Help write subcontracts, purchase orders, correspondence field questions, and job write-ups

Visit jobsites regularly with Foreman and Project Managers to track progress of project

Meet performance standards set by department manager

Perform additional tasks as assigned
Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
-
Industry and/or sales experience preferred
-
Ability to develop and maintain relationships, both internally and externally
-
Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
-
Ability to work independently or in a team atmosphere
-
Proficient in using Microsoft Office products
-
Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines
-
Highly organized
-
Self-motivated
-
A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required

Must have reliable transportation for site visits
-
Ability to pass drug screening
Must be willing to work extended hour days when business needs demand.
