Virtual Fly-through: Multnomah County New East County Library

Alliant has been chosen to construct the mechanical systems of the new Multnomah County East County Library, situated at 1297 NW Eastman Parkway in Gresham. This nearly 95,000 square foot structure will be erected on the former site of the Gresham City Hall Park and Ride, marking a significant transformation for the area. Serving as the county's second-largest library, it will stand as a prominent addition alongside the downtown Central branch. To ensure its success, the project has enlisted the expertise of Adjaye Associates as the design architect and Holst Architecture as the Prime Architect of Record, combining local insight with global experience. Among its notable features, the library will boast an auditorium, a dedicated space for teenagers, a café, a children's play area, communal outdoor spaces, technology hubs, and a spacious maker space. Utilizing CLT construction, a favored material in contemporary building practices, this project aims to blend innovative design with sustainable construction methods.

Systems to be installed within the building include hydronic air source heat pump air/water chillers provide chilled and heated water to the building for temperature control, perimeter forced air ventilators provide heating/cooling at the building perimeter and in-floor radiant slabs provide temperature control for interior spaces and a decoupled dedicated outside air system accommodates building ventilation requirements.
