Edwards Center

Beaverton, Oregon

Alliant Systems provided full design-build services for the 12,000 square foot renovation and expansion of the Edwards Center, a non-profit which provides support and training for adults with developmental disabilities. The facility includes administrative offices, classrooms, gathering spaces, and a full commercial kitchen. The project consisted of a complete gut and remodel of a 1970’s vintage facility with new additions on three sides. Mechanical and plumbing systems were chosen to provide optimal energy efficiency with competitive first cost and durability. The project also included a variety of specialized plumbing systems and fixtures to address needs of special needs visitors. The HVAC service is a Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) system with dedicated outside air (DOAS) unit with heat recovery.  Central hot water for bathing stations in the center and the commercial kitchen is provided from high efficiency gas-fired water heaters. Commercial kitchen plumbing and waste treatment designed for full compliance with recently revised standards for municipal Fat Oil and Grease (FOG) program.
